Most people have seen bird-of-prey demonstration, but ours are somewhat different. Firstly, as the name implies, we use a team mostly comprising experienced falcons. These are the most exciting of all the raptor families and the most dashing of the falcons is the peregrine, which is rarely seen in public displays. This is officially the world’s fastest living creature, which can attain speeds of well over 200 mph in a “stoop” or dive.

We have numbers of falcons, including peregrines, and by the use of both ancient falconry methods and modern devices and techniques we endeavour to show the glorious flying abilities of the falcon.

In addition, there is an educational side to the display, which entertaining information about individual birds, on the history of he sport and uses for falconry in modern times. The display are also interactive, with adult audience volunteers being allowed to handle and parade the falcons, and children flying others from hand to hand within the arena in perfect safety.

The Falconry School provides displays at a wide variety of venues throughout Britain and, from time to time, other EU countries. The aim of our displays is to educate the audience about birds of prey in general, their place in the natural world, and the history of their interactivity with mankind through the sport of falconry. These venues include such things as:
  • Country fairs
  • Game Fairs
  • Steam rallies
  • Theme parks
  • Schools
Members of the public often seem to only remember a show because some of the hawks are lost during the show. The aim with our displays is that the audience will remember the actual flights of the falcons and hawks instead! We provide a stand with static display of hawks and falcons, and our personnel will be on hand to answer questions throughout the day. We can give one or more flying demos on the day, with audience participation and commentary, and we would venture to say that it will be the most interesting display of flying that the audience will have seen at a show.
